Shoulder Bursitis Simplified by Sports Medicine MD

Bursae are fluid-filled sacs that protect other structures. In our shoulder, the tendons of the rotator cuff can glide effortlessly between bones while the bursa is intact. The bursa hardens when it becomes inflamed. What would help ease tendon movement now becomes a trap, and if left untreated could end up shearing or tearing our tendons. Antiinflammatories are commonly used, but isn’t it better to fix the underlying problem causing the inflammation? A somewhat simple inflammatory process can end up in surgical intervention if left untreated.

Ignoring a problem will not fix it.
